About Us A mobile and flexible approach to working means that all team members are supported to deliver a person-centred service to support our service users to maximise their independence in their own communities. All teams in Essex promote independence and support service users to take control of their own lives by encouraging the use of personal budgets and a model of progression. We cover a diverse area of Essex and in line with the Adult Operations Charter promote the vision of 'Helping People to help themselves, making personalisation real'. The Working Age Adult Team: Is located in the west of Essex, which covers a large geographical area stretching from the borders of London Boroughs - Chigwell to Dunmow. Our central base is in Harlow which is approximately 5 minutes' walk to Harlow Town railway station. The team also has a satellite base in Uttlesford, within Uttlesford district council offices. There are 2 teams that consist of a team manager, senior social workers, social workers, assistant social workers and part-time health access champions. The team mainly supports individuals from age 18 to 65s who are vulnerable adults; many of our customers will have complex learning disabilities and physical disabilities. The team`s overarching focus is to help people to help themselves- making personalisation real for our customers, which is very much in line with ECC`s Adult Operations Charter. The team carries out statutory assessment and reviews with customers to support customers to achieve effective outcomes. The team practices within the Mental Capacity legislation and other related legislation, and undertakes enquiries that relates to safeguarding concerns to protect vulnerable adults. The team also supports carers and carries out carer's assessments and reviews. The team is an open and transparent team, that works jointly with colleagues and other agencies within ECC and outside of ECC to safe guard and achieve effective outcomes for customers. The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the County of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car or ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
